There is hope in Jesus Christ.
The darkness problem.
People have a very serious darkness problem. Look at the obvious evil all around our world that has become commonplace. The scripture reveals that the problem of evil has its root in the heart of man.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9)
God goes to great length in the scripture to make this dilemma clear.
The POSITION of darkness
Jesus said, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46)
The passion for darkness
Jesus said, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)
The personification of darkness
The scripture is clear when it says, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:"(Ephesians 5:8)
The problem of darkness
What is the big deal? Why does it matter that spiritually I am in darkness, loving darkness and being described as darkness itself? A frightening truth revealed about God uncovers the issue for which we are to be concerned. "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (I John 1:5)
The issue lies in the very nature of light and darkness. The two can have no union. Never has darkness overcome light, it is completely impossible. The same truth applies to our spiritual dilemma of darkness. We are born separated from God, as separate as light is from the darkness.
God has a solution.
God has made a way! The means to fix our "darkness problem" is through Jesus. At the cross when Jesus died in the place of the sinner. God actually laid upon Jesus all of our sin i.e. our darkness and Jesus died as a sinner for you. Now, listen to God's response to our darkness problem, "[God] Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" (Colossians 1:13-14)
God made a way to be free from this very serious problem of darkness! That way is through faith in Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. If you would simply trust God to deliver you from your darkness problem and ask Him to save you, He will!
God declared that whoever would come to Him to be saved from sin would certainly be rescued. It really just comes down to you making the choice to trust God to save you.
When I was saved from my problem of spiritual darkness, I prayed and simply asked Jesus to save me, it wasn't a deep complex prayer, but it was a prayer of faith. I said something along the lines of, "Jesus, I know I am a sinner, would you save me from my sin!" If you would do the same and place your trust on Jesus, He promises to save you.
